The Vessel

The Customcraft 670 paraflight brings a new and exciting prospective to the increasingly popular sport of parasailing by making takeoffs and landings safe and simple. The innovative design from Australia’s Customcraft Marine employs a broad rear deck and a hydraulic winch to enable each parasailer to take off and land from the security of the boat.

The rear deck configuration ensures the parachute is filled with wind before the parasailer is buckled into the harness. The hydraulic winch then pays out the line as the flyer becomes airborne. The unpredictability of beach landings is eliminated when the time comes to descend as the boat simply turns into the wind and the parasailer is winched back on board.

The 6.70 mere fibreglass craft is built to Australian survey standards to carry six parasailers and a crew of two. Beam is 2.27 metres and draft 0.40 metres. Features include forward seating, a command console amidships to starboard and the large after deck for takeoffs and landings. The design has been developed with safety features to meet the standards set by survey authorities around the world. It has already been classified to USL Code C to operate up to five kilometres offshore in Western Australia and has passed Australian Standards AS1799 stability tests and USL Category T survey and stability classifications.

The Mercruiser stern drive meets current environmental standards and also powers the hydraulic pump operating the parasail winch. A further benefit for the environmentally conscious is the fact that the Mercruiser uses unleaded petrol so that the boat can be operated close to residential areas.

With authorities around the world becoming increasingly concerned about the dangers of beach takeoffs and landings, which are now banned in Western Australia, all future parasail boats will have to be fitted with winches.

The Customcraft 670 Paraflight – truly the only way for parasailers to fly!
